Gordon Shedden in the Honda Team Racing Honda Civic set a blistering pace to take pole position for round 7 of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton in Hampshire. With a sensational lap of 1 minute 17.004 seconds, the Scot from Dalgety Bay in Fife was in unstoppable form.

In second place was Andrew Jordan in the Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra, with Shedden's team-mate Matt Neal in third. Best of the non-turbocharged cars was Jason Plato in the Silverline Chevrolet Cruze in 5th, although he was almost a second down on Shedden. After qualifying, Plato commented "We were very pleased with that lap, but that is everything that the car has. There is no more available."

Wowing the crowds was the fire-spitting Audi of Rob Austin Racing (pictured) although the car was unfortunately not as quick as it looked, but it is early days for this new team.

It looks like there is everything to play for in tomorrow's 3 races and with the weather possibly changeable, it should be an outstanding day of racing.
