Oulton Park - Free Practice - 4/6/11

Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal top the timesheets in free practice for Honda Racing Team at Oulton Park.
Gordon Shedden was top in 1st free practice but 6th in the 2nd
Following changes to the technical regulations imposed by the championship organisers, all eyes were on the timesheets for the free practice sessions at the picturesque Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire as this was the first time the cars had run under the new regulations.
In sun-drenched conditions, Gordon Shedden posted the fastest time in the first free practice session in his turbo-powered Honda Racing Team Civic with team-mate Matt Neal just behind in second. Defending BTCC champion Jason Plato and team-mate Alex MacDowall were 3rd and 4th in their normally aspirated Silverline Chevrolet Cruzes.
In the second free practice session it was Matt Neal who topped the tables with Alex MacDowall second. Jason Plato was third with the Chevrolet Cruse of Paul O'Neill in 4th. Gordon Shedden fell from top in the first session to 6th in the second.
The changes to the technical regulations will not be fully apparent until after the qualifying session, however there are early signs that the performance difference between the turbo and non-turbo cars has been reduced.
