Victory for Gordon Shedden in the first race at Oulton Park as Matt Neal struggles and finishes in 8th.
Gordon Shedden wins the first race at Oulton Park
After the sunny weather on Saturday, the first race on Sunday started in much cooler conditions with an overcast sky. A damp track and rain in the air the meant the track was very slippery and tyre choice was all-important.
From pole position Gordon Shedden drove a commanding race and after recovering the lead he briefly lost to team-mate Matt Neal on the first lap, led to the chequered flag and secured victory for the Honda Racing Team.
From 4th on the grid, Jason Plato soon made his way up to 2nd but could not challenge Shedden for the lead, despite the pair extending a slight lead over the following pack. Plato held his position to finish 2nd ahead of a well-deserved 3rd place for his Silverline Chevrolet team-mate Alex MacDowall.
Behind the top three, the Vauxhall Vectra of James Nash finished in 4th ahead of the WSR BMW 320si drivers Rob Collard and Nick Foster in 5th and 6th.
Despite starting 2nd on the grid, Matt Neal finished the first race in 8th place, clearly struggling in his Honda Racing Team Civic.
