This morning, TOCA issued a technical bulletin to all teams in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

With effect from the next rounds at Oulton Park in Cheshire on June 4th and 5th, the minimum weight for all normally aspirated S2000 cars will be reduced. The minimum weight will drop by 25kgs to 1145kgs for front-wheel-drive cars and drop by 10kgs to 1140 for rear-wheel-drive cars.

Additionally, the first gear ratio for normally aspirated S2000 rear-wheel-drive cars will be free, having previously been set under the Championship Regulations.

TOCA also announced a further reduction in boost by 0.05 bar for the turbo-charged cars however the implementation of this change remains suspended, allowing TOCA to implement this reduction at short notice during an event if and when it deemed necessary.

The changes to the regulations have been introduced to address the obvious performance differences displayed by the turbo and non-turbo engine cars during the opening rounds of the championship. Will they succeed? We'll have to wait for the next rounds at Oulton Park on June 4th and 5th to find out.
