British Touring Car Championship
Croft - Preview
By MJP Media | 13 June 2011
As the British Touring Car Championship looks forward to Croft this weekend, Matt Neal leads the way but several drivers are right behind him in this closely contested series.
Matt Neal will be hoping for a less controversial meeting at Croft
Croft in North Yorkshire is the venue for the next rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on June 18th and 19th. Honda Racing team-mates Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden currently lead the championship despite their controversial incident at the last corner of the second race and Oulton Park where their cars collided, sending them both into the gravel trap. Shedden managed to continue and finish 6th but Neal was stuck and didn't score anything - a massive disappointment after a potential 1-2 victory.
With just 15 points (the equivalent of a single race win) covering the top 6 drivers in the championship standings, there is everything to play for. Behind the Neal and Shedden are Mat Jackson, James Nash, Jason Plato and Andrew Jordan - any one of them could be leading the championship when they leave Croft next weekend.
Tom Onslow-Cole parted company with the AmD Milltek Racing team just before the last race at Oulton Park and will be driving a Team Aon Ford Focus (car No. 4) at Croft alongside existing Team Aon drivers Tom Chilton and Andy Neate. Onslow-Cole is no stranger to Team Aon having partnered Chilton in their BTCC campaign last year. It is expected that AmD Milltek team principal Shaun Hollamby will once again return to the driving seat and pilot their VW Golf at Croft.
