Jason Plato secures the fist non-Honda pole of the 2011 season
Qualifying started dry and with the ever-present threat of rain the teams and drivers were keen to get a time on the board.
The early leader was Rob Collard in the WSR BMW 320si E90 who headed the time sheets for most of the session. Initially followed by the Audi A4 of Rob Austin and the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus ST of Mat Jackson, the Silverline Chevrolets of Jason Plato and Alex MacDowall had moved up to 2nd and 3rd by the mid point of the qualifying session.
With 3 minutes of qualifying left, Matt Neal posted the fastest time in his Honda Racing Civic only for Jason Plato to post a faster time with less than 2 minutes to go.
When the session ended it was Jason Plato on pole for the first race tomorrow with Matt Neal 2nd and Rob Collard 3rd. Alex MacDowall qualified 4th with the Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra of Andrew Jordan 5th and the 888 Racing with Colins Contractors Vauxhall Vectra of James Nash 6th.
Securing the first non-Honda pole of the 2011 season, Jason Plato will need to be wary of the fast-starting BMW 320si E90 of Rob Collard behind him on the 2nd row of the grid.
