Following the summer break, battle resumed in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.
Early rain soon disappeared to leave a dry track for the first free practice session of the day. Following the recent construction work at the Norfolk circuit, the drivers had to learn the new '300' layout which is considerably longer than the old layout at just under 3 miles.
Championship leader Matt Neal was 4th fastest in the first free practice session with his Honda Racing team-mate Gordon Shedden 2nd. James Nash was an excellent 3rd in his 888 with Collins Contractors Vauxhall Vectra. Top of the time sheets was the Silverline Chevrolet Cruze of defending champion Jason Plato who is currently 6th in the championship.
In the second free practice session, Silverline Chevrolet once again took the honours however this time it was Alex MacDowall who topped the time sheets, just 0.038 seconds behind team-mate Jason Plato. As in the first free practice session, James Nash and Matt Neal were 3rd and 4th fastest.
