Following its summer break, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship resumes on the 6th and 7th of August at Snetterton. Situated just outside Norwich in East Anglia, the racing will take place on the new and much longer '300' circuit which also has improved public viewing areas.

During the first half of the season the turbo-charged cars had a clear performance advantage over the normally aspirated cars despite successive changes to the technical regulations designed to create a more level playing field. Their dominance was such that the top 5 drivers in the championship at the half-way point in the season are all powered by turbo-charged engines. Currently 6th in the championship, Jason Plato is the leading non-turbo powered driver.

As the second half of the 2011 season gets under way, Matt Neal leads the championship on 140 points for Honda Racing ahead of Mat Jackson (Airwaves Racing) and Honda team-mate Gordon Shedden. Defending champion Jason Plato is down in 6th on 100 points for Silverline Chevrolet and despite being only 40 points behind Neal, will need to score consistently high points during the remaining meetings if he is to keep his championship defence alive.

Two drivers are due to make their BTCC debut at Snetterton. Martin Byford will be taking over the AmD Milltek Racing.com VW Golf whilst Daniel Welch will compete in the Welch Motorsport Proton Gen-2 which is built to the latest turbo-charged Next Generation Touring Car technical regulations.
