Snetterton - Race 2 report - 7/8/11
By MJP Media | 7 August 2011
Gordon Shedden wins the 2nd race at Snetterton and leads the championship as Matt Neal again fails to score any points.
Gordon Shedden wins race two
As race 2 got under way it wasn't long before the two Chevrolets of Jason Plato and Alex MacDowall had slipped down from their front row start positions. At the front it was the Honda Racing Civic of Gordon Shedden that was leading the way with James Nash 2nd and Frank Wrathall 3rd with Plato 4th and MacDowall 5th.
As Shedden and Nash extended their lead, Frank Wrathall in 3rd was coming under constant pressure from defending champion Jason Plato. Following a valiant defence, Wrathall finally lost his potential podium position to Plato and MacDowall on lap 9 and retired the following lap following contact with another car which damaged his radiator.
Elsewhere, Matt Neal was working his way up the field from 18th and was running in 7th place when he had to pit to change a wheel. Neal re-joined the race but finished 17th and once again out of the points.
At the chequered flag it was victory for Gordon Shedden with James Nash 2nd and Jason Plato 3rd. With Matt Neal not scoring any points in either of the first two races, Gordon Shedden now leads the championship.
The random reverse grid now places David Newsham in pole position for the final race of the day with Mat Jackson joining him on the front row of the grid. Paul O'Neill and Alex MacDowall will start on row 2 with Jason Plato and James Nash on row 3.
