Tom Chilton secures pole position for the first race tomorrow by qualifying 1st ahead of Matt Neal. Frank Wrathall and Rob Austin qualify their NGTC spec. cars in 3rd and 4th.
Tom Chilton on his way to pole position
In contrast to the free practice sessions earlier today, the qualifying session for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship meeting at Knockhill took place on a dry track under an overcast sky.
Despite his impressive performance in the free practice sessions when he topped the timesheets, local hero Gordon Shedden only managed to qualify in 5th place for the first race tomorrow. Pole position went to the Team Aon Ford Focus of Tom Chilton who had been 2nd in free practice.
Starting alongside Chilton on the front row of the grid will be the Honda Racing Team Civic of Matt Neal - a magnificent result considering he is still recovering from recently breaking a bone in his right hand.
Demonstrating the continuing development of the new NGTC specification cars, Frank Wrathall and Rob Austin will start on the 2nd row of the grid having qualified the Toyota Avensis and Audi A4 in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Qualifying in 6th place, Jason Plato will join Gordon Shedden on the 3rd row of the grid.
With a varied mix of teams and cars at the front of the grid, the racing at Knockhill is sure to be exciting. Don't miss it.
Frank Wrathall qualified 3rd in his NGTC spec. Toyota Avensis
