After the cold and rain of Saturday, Sunday at Knockhill was dry, warm and sunny for the first race of the day in the British Touring Car Championship.

Following an impressive qualifying performance which gave Tom Chilton pole position, the Team Aon driver totally dominated the first race in his Global Ford Focus, leading from start to finish and taking the chequered flag with a lead of over 6 seconds.

Behind Chilton, Gordon Shedden in the Honda Racing Team Civic soon passed Rob Austin's Audi A4 and Frank Wrathall's Toyota Avensis to take 3rd place. Despite putting pressure on team-mate Matt Neal who was running in 2nd place, Shedden was unable to find a way past. Shedden himself was under constant pressure from Frank Wrathall but managed to fend off the NGTC driver.

The race ended with victory for Tom Chilton - the first BTCC win for the Global Ford Focus. Matt Neal finished 2nd with Gordon Shedden 3rd and Frank Wrathall 4th.
