Gordon Shedden leads the championship as the BTCC moves to Rockingham on September 17th and 18th.
Gordon Shedden leads the championship by 1 point
The next stop on the BTCC calendar is Rockingham in Northamptonshire on September 17th and 18th. Shedden's Honda Racing team-mate Matt Neal is just one point behind so there is everything to play for.
At Knockhill, Mat Jackson arrived leading the championship but following a weekend he would rather forget, left the Scottish circuit in 3rd place after scoring only a single championship point from the whole weekend.
Following consistent performances from the Honda Racing Team, Gordon Shedden will arrive at Rockingham leading the championship by just 1 point over team-mate Matt Neal. Shedden has the best opportunity in over a decade for a Scottish driver to take the BTCC crown.
Frank Wrathall made BTCC history again at Knockhill with the first outright podium finish for an NGTC driver. Wrathall, the reigning Ginetta G50 Cup champion from Preston, will be keen to secure the first outright NGTC race win and Rockingham may well be the place he does it.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Rockingham boasts excellent spectator facilities and in addition to 3 races from the UK's premier motorsport series, the weekend will feature a full support race programme plus fairground rides, monster trucks and the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team. Tickets can be obtained from the Rockingham web site at www.rockingham.co.uk. Full race day coverage can be seen on ITV4.
