In the second race of the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Rockingham, Gordon Shedden battled his way from 6th on the grid to a sensational race win for the Honda Racing Team.

Jason Plato led off the line, closely followed by Paul O'Neill and Frank Wrathall. By the end of the first lap, Shedden had blasted his way up to third, overtaking Nick Foster and team mate Matt Neal. On the second lap he overtook Paul O'Neill and on lap 4 was able to pass Jason Plato with Frank Wrathall still in third.

On lap 6, Wrathall was also able to pass Plato and set about hunting down the Honda of Gordon Shedden. As the remaining 12 laps counted down, Wrathall was an ever present threat to Shedden's Honda but he couldn't find a passing opportunity. Plato continued in third until lap 14 when Matt Neal finally found a way through into third, but by this time he was well behind the two leaders.

At the chequered flag it was Gordon Shedden's Honda from Frank Wrathall in the Toyota Avensis with Matt Neal in the second Honda third.

In the reverse grid draw for the last race of the day, the entire top 10 will be reversed which puts Rob Collard on pole in the BWM 320si followed by Rob Austin (Audi A4), Jeff Smith (Vauxhall Vectra), Paul O'Neill (Chevrolet Cruze) and James Nash in the other Vauxhall Vectra.
