As always, the reverse grid system produced some exciting racing with the top 10 drivers from race 2 being reversed to form for the grid for the final race of the day at Rockingham.

Off the line, pole-sitter Rob Collard and Rob Austin both got good starts with Austin's Audi A4 taking the lead from Collard's BMW 320si into the first hairpin on the first lap. Collard lost another place on lap 2 when he was passed by the Toyota Avensis of Frank Wrathall. At the same time, James Nash was making his way through the pack from 5th on the grid and was soon challenging Rob Austin for the lead which he took on lap 4.

Despite intense pressure for Rob Austin, James Nash managed to keep his 888 with Collins Contractors Vauxhall Vectra in the lead to the end of the race to take his maiden BTCC victory. Rob Austin finished 2nd with Rob Collard completing the top 3 positions. Paul O'Neill finished 4th for GoMobileUK.com tech-speed with former BTCC champions Jason Plato 5th and Matt Neal 6th.

Following an exciting day's racing, Honda Racing team-mates Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden jointly lead the championship on 204 points with Jason Plato 3rd on 180.

With just two more meetings on the 2011 calendar and up to 6 drivers still able to win the championship, the remaining rounds are sure to be entertaining. The next meeting is at Brands Hatch in Kent on October 1st and 2nd where the drivers will race on the full GP circuit.
