Jason Plato and Matt Neal have both received fines and penalty points on their competition licences following incidents both on and off the track during qualifying.

Following incidents both on and off the track during the qualifying session for the first race at Rockingham, Jason Plato and Matt Neal have been penalised by the championship stewards.
Towards the end of qualifying, the session was stopped to recover the Airwaves Ford Focus of Liam Griffin. When the session resumed, there was a scramble to set the fastest time and the Silverline Chevrolet Cruze of Plato and the Honda Racing Civic of Neal collided twice.
Back in the pit lane after the session had ended, there were harsh words exchanged between the drivers with their team members having to intervene.
Following an investigation by the championship stewards immediately afterwards, both drivers were served with a fine of £1,000 and had 3 penalty points added to their competition licences. The stewards have also requested that the BTCC Administrator imposes a six-place grid penalty (applicable to both drivers), suspended for the rest of the 2011 season.
Plato will still start the first race in pole position.
