Following his successful qualifying session yesterday, Jason Plato started the first race of the day from pole position in the blistering heat at Brands Hatch. In contrast, Andrew Jordan qualified a magnificent 2nd but failed to even make the start of the race as his Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra remained in the garage with an electrical problem.

From pole, Jason Plato led to the chequered flag to scoop maximum championship points in his Silverline Chevrolet Cruze. Team-mate Alex MacDowall soon passed James Nash on the first lap and the pair led the field for most of the race with Matt Neal running in 3rd.

On lap 10, Matt Neal suffered a puncture and had to pit which put the Honda Racing driver out of contention. Meanwhile, Mat Jackson had made his way up from 7th on the grid and was now running in 3rd behind the Silverline Chevrolet duo. On the penultimate lap, the Airwaves Racing driver passed Alex MacDowall to take 2nd which he held to the end of the race. On the same lap, Gordon Shedden suffered a puncture like his team-mate and fellow championship leader Matt Neal meaning neither driver would score any points from the race.

The race ended with a victory for Jason Plato with Mat Jackson 2nd and Alex MacDowall 3rd. James Nash finished in 4th with Tom Onslow-Cole 5th and Paul O'Neill 6th. With Jason Plato scoring maximum points and championship leaders Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden not scoring anything, Plato is now only 6 points adrift in the championship battle.
