By MJP Media | 2 October 2011

Jason Plato takes another victory in the second race at Brands Hatch and now leads the championship by 7 points over Matt Neal. The reverse grid system means Plato will start race 3 from 10th on the grid with Neal starting in 4th.

Following their results in the first race of the day, Jason Plato started race 2 in pole position alongside the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus of Mat Jackson. Row 2 was filled by Alex MacDowall and James Nash. Championship leaders and Honda Racing team-mates Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden started 18th and 19th. Andrew Jordan's repaired Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra started at the back of the grid.

Plato once again got a good start as did Jackson and MacDowall, but the star of the 1st lap was surely Matt Neal who had made his way up to 10th place from 18th on the grid. Neal's team-mate Gordon Shedden was also doing well making his way through the field.

Before long, the Team AON Ford Focus of Tom Onslow-Cole had made his way up to 3rd and was putting pressure on 2nd placed Mat Jackson. Whilst their battle continued, Jason Plato was extending a slight lead. On lap 10, Alex MacDowall who was running in 4th suffered a spectacular engine blow-up which put him out of the race and allowed Paul O'Neill to inherit 4th place.

As the laps counted down, Tom Onslow-Cole kept putting pressure on Mat Jackson but was unable to find a way past. The race ended with a second victory of the day for Jason Plato with Mat Jackson 2nd and Tom Onslow-Cole 3rd. Paul O'Neill finished 4th ahead of Tom Chilton in 5th and James Nash in 6th.

This result was enough to give Jason Plato a 7 point lead of the championship over Matt Neal however the reverse grid for the final race of the day will reverse the top 10 positions from race two meaning Plato would start in 10th place with championship contenders Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal starting 3rd and 4th.
