British Touring Car Championship
It's the final countdown!
By MJP Media | 4 October 2011
With only 12 days to go to the final 3 races of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, fireworks are guaranteed as no fewer than 5 drivers can still win the coveted title.
Championship leader Matt Neal's Honda Racing Civic
The fab five are separated by just 44 points with 52 still available on Finals Day.
The three title favourites are separated by just 5 points meaning any heroics or mistakes could win or lose the title in an instant. Matt Neal (Honda) leads the series on 225 points from Jason Plato (Chevrolet) and the other Honda of Gordon Shedden on 220 points each. The dark horses hoping for mistakes from the top three are Mat Jackson (Ford Focus) and James Nash (Vauxhall Vectra) with189 and 181 points respectively. Any early crashes involving the top 3 would certainly make life interesting!
There is no doubt that after 27 races of high speed action, crashes, controversy and rule changes, the British Touring Car Championship is going to serve up a spectacular weekend like no other at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. Three races will settle everything, but Saturday could prove just as crucial in the free practice and qualifying sessions. Who will be on pole for race 1? Will an outsider spoil the party?
With nothing certain, there is going to be a massive crowd, a huge TV audience and, of course, full coverage here. Don't miss the thrilling climax to the UK's premier motorsport series!
