Ralf Schumacher is fastest in free practice as the might of the DTM (German Touring Cars) rolls into Brands Hatch in Kent for the weekend with British interest aplenty.
Ralf Schumacher - fastest in free practice
In the free practice session for DTM at Brands Hatch there were mixed fortunes for the 5 British drivers as Ralf Schumacher set the fastest time on a hot and sunny Saturday morning in his Mercedes.
The British pairing of Gary Paffett and Jamie Green were 2nd and 3rd respectively in their Mercedes. Paffett had led the session until the final moments and was only 9 thousands of a second behind Schumacher. David Coulthard, having been 5th quickest at one point, was 11th and Oliver Jarvis was 15th.
In a disappointing mornings qualifying, Susie Stoddart was 18th. In an exclusive interview, the 25 year old from Oban in Scotland was not downbeat. The former young McLaren Driver of the Year is now in her 6th year of this ultra competitive series thanks to the opportunity given to her by Mercedes' Gerhard Unger. "Mercedes have really been fantastic with me" she said. "I love every second and DTM is undoubtedly one of the toughest series in the world to race in." When asked if it was harder in the racing world for a female, Susie was philosophical. "Not really" she said "if you have the talent you can succeed. I am just hoping for an opportunity to prove that with a test in an F1 car."
The weather is set fair for the qualifying session this afternoon and we'll bring it to you as soon as it happens!
