Rob Huff and Jason Plato to star at next week's Autosport International show at the NEC
By MJP Media | 3 January 2012
The weekend of the 14th and 15th January sees the great and the good of the motorsport world, together with many of their cars, available to the public at the annual Autosport International show at the NEC Birmingham.
Rob Huff in his 2011 WTCC Chevrolet Cruze
Cars and drivers from F1, WTCC and BTCC together with other series will be on display throughout the weekend, together with a fantastic live action arena.
The line-up for the 2012 show has been bolstered by news that Chevrolet's FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) racer Rob Huff will be attending the show. Huff, who was second in the 2011 championship and tied the record for most wins in a WTCC season with eight victories, will be appearing at the show on both public days for interviews and autograph signings.
Also attending will be double British Touring Car champion Jason Plato, who will be hosting the Live Action Arena with television presenter Louise Goodman for two action-packed days of daredevil demonstrations, high octane stunts and wheel-to-wheel racing, plus interviews with some of motorsport's leading personalities. Based in the NEC's largest hall and seating 4,700 fans, the Live Action Arena is a unique experience, featuring racing machinery from many forms of motorsport: all of which will lay down some rubber in an unforgettable hour-long show. You can enjoy powersliding antics from the Maxxis British Drift Championship including Boyzone singer Shane Lynch, who will be demonstrating his Team Japspeed Nissan Silvia S15.
The next generation of motorsport stars will also be taking to the track, with 2011 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner Oliver Rowland getting behind the wheel of a Williams F1-designed FIA Formula Two Championship single-seater. International endurance racing squad United Autosports will be performing lightning-quick pit-stops in their McLaren MP4-12C GT3 car, while you can also enjoy demonstrations from Formula Jedi, National Autograss Class 7s, BriSCA F2 stock cars and the newly-launched V-Storm Subaru model kit car. Two-wheel fans will be catered for as well, as the UK FMX freestyle Moto-X team will be putting its professional riders through their paces with a series of breathtaking stunts.
For even more action, the final shows on Saturday and Sunday will include an extended 90-minute extravaganza featuring a special oval racing display. The Live Action Arena will be open for six shows on Saturday and Sunday. If you've not ordered your entry ticket in advance, make sure you visit the booth in Hall 7 to guarantee your seat at one of this weekend's performances.
Tickets for Autosport International are available at £30 for adults and £19.50 for children aged five and over. For more information call 0844 581 1420 or visit www.autosportinternational.com.
