Kärcher support sees Thorney Motorsport return at Silverstone
By MJP Media | 3 October 2012
With continued support from main sponsors Kärcher, the Thorney Motorsport Vauxhall Insignia VXR-R returns to British Touring Car Championship action at Silverstone this weekend.
Thorney Motorsport were in the hunt at Snetterton
The car will be driven by Chris Stockton who has previous BTCC experience, having piloted a Lexus a couple of seasons ago.
"We are delighted to have Chris in the car for Silverstone and hopefully Brands Hatch - he's a proven driver in a variety of series not least the BTCC from a few years back and his input has been invaluable" said team boss John Thorne. "The 2012 season was always about developing the car to its maximum potential and having different drivers in the car is part of that process. We are delighted with the progress made in testing and are confident that the Insignia in Chris's hands will be up the front of the pack."

He went on to say: "I think we'll surprise a few people. The season started poorly for us and we went back to the drawing board but Snetterton showed the car is quick and Tony Gilham did a great job getting it into the top ten with zero testing. This time with Chris we've spent two days testing at Pembrey this week which enabled us to get a good wet set up as well as continue its development. With Silverstone being our home track we're confident we can run well here."
Chris Stockton is clearly up for the challenge, commenting: "The BTCC is unfinished business for me and we've been keeping a close eye on how NGTC has developed. The Thorney team have worked hard and developed the Insignia to a competitive package and frankly, after the Pembrey test, I was amazed how good the car was. We made some good developments and I'm raring to get out onto the grid."
