Following his dominant performance in both the free practice sessions earlier today, Jason Plato set the fastest time in the qualifying session at Rockingham. Setting a time that was over 6/10th of a second faster than anyone else, the MG KX Momentum Racing driver demonstrated what his rivals can expect in the three races tomorrow.

Gordon Shedden qualified 2nd for Honda Yuasa Racing Team in his Civic and will join Plato on the front row of the grid for the first race. Just behind Shedden, Andrew Jordan qualified 3rd in the Pirtek Racing Honda Civic and will start on row two alongside the Redstone Racing Ford Focus of Mat Jackson who qualified 4th.

Andy Neate will start the first race on the third row of the grid in his MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 after qualifying 5th. Joining Neate on the third row will be defending BTCC champion and current championship leader Matt Neal who qualified 6th in his Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civic. Neal will be racing with a broken hand following a motorbike accident a couple of weeks ago.

After a disappointing second free practice session for Frank Wrathall, his Dynojet Toyota Avensis required a full differential change. This appeared to be successful as the car qualified in 7th place, a vast improvement on his 16th place in the second free practice session.

Dave Newsham struggled after his success at Knockhill

Following his success in the last race at Knockhill where he secured his 2nd BTCC victory, Dave Newsham's Team ES Racing.com Vauxhall Vectra struggled in both the free practice sessions and the qualifying session. The Inverness based driver qualified a disappointing 13th.

With Jason Plato's MG6 looking so dominant, he stands an excellent chance of reinvigorating his championship title campaign. Whatever happens, it's going to be an exciting day's racing at Rockingham tomorrow!
