British Touring Car Championship
Thruxton Preview - WIN TICKETS!

By MJP Media | 24 April 2013

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to the super-fast Thruxton circuit in Hampshire on May 4th and 5th for the 3rd meeting of the 2013 season.

A great venue for spectators thanks to its vast viewing areas, Thruxton is probably the most fearsome circuit on the BTCC calendar with an average lap speed well in excess of 100mhp and top speeds of over 140mph. Its layout is effectively a never-ending, occasionally tightening right-hand loop split by two chicanes and boasts extraordinarily high speeds. In fact, it is such a fast circuit that Dunlop brings a one-off tyre just for this event to help withstand the extra cornering loads.

Last time out at Donington Park, the podium honours were taken exclusively by former champions with Honda Civics taking 7 of the 9 podium places across the three races and with 5 different drivers sharing the silverware, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is once again providing the close racing we've come to expect from Britain's premier motorsport series.

Defending BTCC champion Gordon Shedden led a Honda Civic 1-2-3 in the first race at Donington Park with Honda Yuasa Racing team-mate Matt Neal 3rd behind Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan. In the second race it was reigning BTCC Independents' Trophy champion Andrew Jordan who took the top step of the podium with Jason Plato 2nd for MG KX Momentum Racing and Gordon Shedden 3rd.

Former BTCC champion Colin Turkington won the last race from Donington Park in his eBay Motors BMW 125M Sport, however it was the Hondas of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal which took 2nd and 3rd place, giving Shedden his 3rd podium of the day out of 3 races.
