Croft Preview - WIN TICKETS!
By MJP Media | 12 June 2013
Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire is the venue for the next meeting of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on June 22nd and 23rd.
Championship leader Matt Neal in his Honda Yuasa Racing Civic
Surrounded by farmland, Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire is always a firm favourite with the fans as its mixture of low, medium and high-speed sections, together with the tightest hairpin bend on the BTCC calendar, always produces exciting racing.
Jason Plato really turned up the heat by winning the first two races for MG KX Momentum Racing last time out at Oulton Park. His MG6 clearly performing well, Plato took the lead in the Drivers' Championship going into the final race of the day, however he encountered the wrong kind of heat when his car caught fire, putting him out of the race and allowing Honda Yuasa Racing's Matt Neal to re-gain the lead in the championship.
Jason Plato leads a 1-2 finish for MG KX Momentum Racing at Oulton Park
The battle for the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is shaping up nicely with only a few points separating the drivers at the top of the leader board. Matt Neal will arrive at Croft Circuit leading the championship on 173 points, however reigning Independent's Trophy winner Andrew Jordan is just 4 points behind on 169 with Jason Plato 3rd with 166 points. Reigning BTCC champion Gordon Shedden is currently 4th in the standings on 142 points.
Jason Plato's MG KX Momentum Racing team-mate Sam Tordoff will be keen to do well at his home circuit. Bradford based Tordoff has impressed may people in the BTCC paddock having already earned himself two podium finishes and one fastest lap in this his rookie year. Currently lying 5th in the championship standings, a maiden BTCC race win can surely not be far away for the young Yorkshire racer.
