Following his victory in the race one, Colin Turkington started the second race from Knockhill in pole position in his eBay Motors BMW 125i M Sport alongside local hero Gordon Shedden in his Honda Yuasa Racing Civic. Rob Austin started on row 2 in the WIX Racing Audi A4 with Jason Plato's MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 which had been promoted from 5th on the grid following a penalty given to Adam Morgan following race one. Morgan started on row 3 alongside Rob Collard.

Colin Turkington got a good start to the race as did Rob Austin who passed Gordon Shedden at the start to take 2nd place. Meanwhile, Turkington extended a significant lead over the battling Austin and Shedden with Jason Plato 4th and Rob Collard 5th. Turkington was on a real charge and for several laps extended his lead by around a second a lap.

As the race progressed, Colin Turkington continued to pull away from Rob Austin who was still being chased by Gordon Shedden. Behind the leaders, Rob Collard in the eBay Motors BMW 125i M Sport passed Jason Plato on lap 11 for 4th place after an intense battle then set about the task of catching Shedden.

In the following laps, Jason Plato lost 2 more places to the Honda Civics of Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan. Jordan then started putting pressure on Neal for 5th place, meanwhile Gordon Shedden was having to defend from the advances of Rob Collard.
