By MJP Media | 15 September 2013
Andrew Jordan takes his second win of the day at Rockingham with a lights-to-flag victory whilst a 3rd Jack Sears Cup class win secures the inaugural Jack Sears Trophy for Lea Wood.
Andrew Jordan on the way to his 2nd win of the day
Following the reverse grid draw, Andrew Jordan started the final race of the day from Rockingham in pole position in his Pirtek Racing Honda Civic alongside the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis of Dave Newsham. MG KX Momentum Racing team-mates Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff started on row two of the grid with Mat Jackson and Colin Turkington on row 3. Following his retirement from race two, Matt Neal started from 24th on the grid.
Colin Turkington got a fantastic start in his eBay Motors BMW 125i M Sport and was up to 2nd place by turn two however he soon lost the place to the hard-charging Sam Tordoff. With cars spinning in front of him, Jack Goff took avoiding action but tapped the BMW of Rob Collard, sending them both into the barriers. Goff managed to recover to the pits with a damaged car but Collard's race was over and the safety car was deployed whist marshals attended to his stricken car.

When racing resumed on lap 5, Sam Tordoff found himself under pressure from Colin Turkington, however Turkington was defending from Jason Plato who in turn also being put under pressure from Mat Jackson in the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus. Meanwhile, Matt Neal was steadily making up ground and by lap 10 was running in 11th place, an impressive achievement considering he started 24th on the grid.
As the race continued, Andrew Jordan extended his lead whilst the battle for 2nd place intensifying behind him between Sam Tordoff, Colin Turkington, Jason Plato and Mat Jackson. On lap 12, Tordoff lost 2nd place to Turkington before losing another place to his team-mate Jason Plato. On lap 13, he lost another place to Mat Jackson before falling into the clutches of Gordon Shedden who passed him on the following lap.
Lea Wood secures the 2013 Jack Sears Trophy with another 3 class wins
In the closing laps, Jason Plato was pushing Colin Turkington hard for 2nd place. Turkington ran wide going into a corner and Plato took the position, however a brilliant recovery by Turkington saw him regain the position. The race ended with another victory for Andrew Jordan and the Pirtek Racing team with Colin Turkington 2nd and Jason Plato 3rd. Mat Jackson took 4th place with Gordon Shedden 5th and Sam Tordoff completing the top 6. Matt Neal finished 7th after a disappointing weekend which saw him drop from 1st to 4th in the Drivers' Championship.
Lea Wood won his 3rd Jack Sears Cup of the day and therefore wins the inaugural Jack Sears Trophy for S2000 specification cars with an unbeatable number of class victories. Andrew Jordan now leads the Drivers' Championship on 338 points with Gordon Shedden 2nd on 308 and Colin Turkington 3rd on 305 as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Silverstone on September 28th and 29th for the penultimate meeting of the 2013 season.
