After 29 races, the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title battle came down to the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. With 22 points available from the last race of the day, Andrew Jordan had a 15 point lead over Jason Plato with defending champion Gordon Shedden just 5 points further behind, ensuring a thrilling climax to a fantastic season.

Intriguingly, the reverse grid draw placed Honda Yuasa Racing's Gordon Shedden on pole alongside Jack Goff on the first row of the grid. Jason Plato started in 7th place on the 4th row however Andrew Jordan, the current championship leader, had to start at the back of the grid following his early exit from the previous race. Jordan needed 8 points from the final race to guarantee the championship title.

At the start, Aron Smith moved up to 2nd place however Jack Goff soon regained the position to run behind pole-sitter Gordon Shedden. From 24th on the grid, Andrew Jordan rapidly started making up places and was running in 18th by the end of the first lap. At the front, Gordon Shedden in the Honda Yuasa Racing Civic was coming under increasing pressure from the RCIB Insurance Racing Vauxhall Insignia of Jack Goff as the pair pulled away from the rest of the field.

By lap 4, Andrew Jordan was up to 15th place and made up more places to be running 11th by the end of lap 5. Meanwhile a titanic battle for the lead was being waged between Jack Goff and Gordon Shedden however the defending champion managed to keep Goff behind him in the damp conditions. By lap 6, Jordan was up to 10th place with Jason Plato in 7th in the MG KX Momentum Racing MG6. As the battle for the lead continued, Mat Jackson was in 3rd place with Aron Smith 4th. Smith lost 4th place to Colin Turkington on lap 11 who then started to pursue Mat Jackson for 3rd place as Plato slipped down the order to 10th.

At the finish it was a race victory for Gordon Shedden with Jack Goff an excellent 2nd. Mat Jackson finished 3rd with Colin Turkington 4th, Aron Smith 5th and Dave Newsham completing the top 6. Andrew Jordan finished 9th ahead of Jason Plato which was enough to secure the championship.

At the end of yet another fantastic season of thrilling racing from Britain's premier motorsport series, it was Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan who won the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Not only did he win the coveted Drivers' Championship, he also successfully defended the Independents Trophy he won last year. Honda / Team Dynamics won the Manufacturers / Constructors Championship with Honda Yuasa Racing securing the HiQ Teams Championship and Pirtek Racing winning the Independents' Team Trophy. Having secured the inaugural Jack Sears Trophy earlier in the season, Lea Wood was presented with his trophy by none other than Jack Sears himself.
