Aiden Moffat will provide his View From The Driver's Seat in 2014
2013 has been quite some year for me. I have had great success on track in the Fiestas and Minis, done really well at school, passed my driving test and somehow found myself driving a British Touring Car and scoring championship points in both of the BTCC weekends I completed. I guess that means I have already had all of my Christmases this year but with a bit of luck I'll still get something small under the tree!
We had a bit of a dilemma at the end of the season when we sat down and looked at where we go next year. Should we stick with the level I was used to or could we really put together a package for the full British Touring Car Championship in 2014? With a lot of consideration we decided on the BTCC. Our first thoughts were that I could probably look at a drive with an existing team but then that leaves me with little control over my future direction and also limits the sponsor partners that I could involve.

After a lot of planning and discussions with some very experienced people on the racing scene, it became apparent that it would be more cost effective over the coming years to treat things as a likely 4 year initial assault on the championship and to try and do this with our own car if a competitive one could be sourced. This led us to looking at a number of options but in the end there was only one that stood out as an outstanding choice so that is what we have done. I was also offered the chance to be a columnist for the Daily Mirror Online and Daily Record Online, which is an honour I can't refuse.
We have bought not just an NGTC touring car, but what we believe is a great touring car: a full specification Chevrolet Cruze built by the legendary RML, the company behind both British and World Touring Car championships in the recent past. The car was developed at great cost by Andy Neate during 2013 but because it came to the season late on, it has had relatively little running and race development. I strongly believe that with our input and a whole load more laps under my belt and the car's, we can make great strides next year. I think that with every lap I will get better and so will the car.
Aiden hopes to increase his collection of silverware in 2014
So, as we start the project I am very excited. We have the car and are now starting to build the team around us. We are obviously looking for commercial sponsors who want to be part of the project and who will benefit from all of my media coverage. I'd like to thank ZX1 who have come on board as lubricant sponsors to the team for 2014.
I am looking forward to being at Autosport International in January as one of the BTCC drivers there. It would be great to see you, all of my friends, fans and sponsors there as well. I will post more news and exciting developments here as they happen.
