Behind the scenes at United Autosports

United Autosports arrived at Brands Hatch ready to roll. We take a look behind the scenes of one of the newest but most experienced racing teams in the BTCC.

United Autosports was not a name familiar to many BTCC fans before their plans to run in this year's championship were revealed. Despite this, the team has a fantastic history in motorsports including an enviable track record in GT racing on a global scale. They enter 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with Glynn Geddie and James Cole.

Glynn Geddie, aged 23 and from Aberdeen, won the European Supercar Challenge with United Autosports in 2013 and is a former British GT champion and Porsche Carrera Cup champion. James Cole, aged 25 and from Southport, is a former Formula Ford champion, has raced in Formula 2 and has half a season of BTCC racing under his belt from last year with the ill-fated TeamHARD. United Autosports pilot a pair of 2014 specification Toyota Avensis' in the team's familiar red, white and blue livery. With a tremendous legacy of saloon car racing, it was a logical step for the team to eventually enter a team into the championship and 2014 was the right time.

Richard Dean, Team Owner and Managing Director explained: "We are really looking forward to being part of the British Touring Car Championship this year. It's something I've had in mind for a few years now and I'm glad we have been able to pull it together and enter not just one but two cars into what is going to be a competitive year. Being a new team, we are realistic about our expectations, hopefully working towards some top ten finishes as the season progresses."

Dean continued: "We are also continuing our commitments in GT racing by entering both the British GT Championship with Mark Patterson and Matt Bell and the GT Cup with Jim Geddie. We finished second in the British championship last year and have finished in the top three for the past three. We also won the European Supercar Challenge with Jim and Glynn Geddie in 2013 so we are looking forward to another successful year in GT racing."

This is going to be a very busy year in the BTCC paddock for United Autosports as they are also running two of the most respected drivers on the scene in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup. Carl Breeze and Luke Davenport are both multiple race and/or championship winning drivers and could present great options for the future if United Autosports decided to expand the BTCC team.
