New partnership takes to the track
By MJP Media | 25 July 2014
A very hot and sunny Donington Park saw the new partnership of Laser Tools Racing and Ciceley Motorsport testing Aiden Moffat's BTCC Chevrolet Cruze as the team sought to address early season reliability issues.
Aiden Moffat with Paul Ridgeway of Ciceley Motorsport
It was a return to the track for both Aiden Moffat and his new back office team in what they both hope will bring better fortunes to the Scottish youngster's first full season in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. The biggest change is likely to be the input of Ciceley Motorsport's head of engineering Paul Ridgeway who is overseeing some fairly major changes to the car.
"This is very much business as usual for us." Paul said. "We have a lot of BTCC and NGTC data and we have already identified some areas where we believe we can add real improvements to Aiden's car."
Aiden and the team were pleased with the early results of the partnership
After the first run, Aiden could not be more positive about how the car felt. "It is like a different car to drive." he said. "Whereas before it felt like I had to point and shoot it around the corners due to a lack of traction, the whole car feels much more planted and secure. It is amazing to feel the difference and time will bring greater rewards."
Russell Morgan, head of Ciceley Motorsport said "We think we can add value to Aiden and the team and based on our early experiences we are really looking forward to a long term relationship with them."
Unfortunately for Aiden, a number of cars, including his, failed the circuit noise testing and at the lunch break he was given the bad news that those who had failed would not be allowed out in the afternoon. That seemed a little unfair as every few minutes a huge jet aeroplane would land at the nearby East Midlands airport, drowning out everything on circuit! The first results of the new partnership however were very positive and Aiden and the team move on to Snetterton next week with a renewed sense of purpose.
