A View From The Driver's Seat: Oulton Park - here we come!
By Aiden Moffat / MJP Media | 4 June 2014
Aiden Moffat can't wait to race at Oulton Park this weekend and looks forward to developing the car and building on the team's performance from the first three races of the season.
We had a great time at Thruxton and came away very happy after two top 20 finishes and a 21st in the other race. We think we are moving forward and I am confident that there is more to come from the car and much more from me as we move into summer.
Oulton Park is a very different circuit to Thruxton. Lots of corners, lots of braking, high speed straights and some off camber sections. It is a massively testing circuit for both the car and the driver and I JUST CAN'T WAIT!! I love Oulton Park and I am desperate to keep up the good work the guys in the team have been doing.
So far this season we have worked hard in the practice sessions and struggled a little bit in qualifying as I learn the car on the circuits as we go along. I think I must be learning quite quickly though as I am currently 10th in the Jack Sears Trophy which effectively shows how well I do in the races compared to those around me by scoring points for places gained.
It is quite strange for me at the moment as I keep wanting to finish higher up the field, but have to remind myself that we have had only 3 race weekends with the car and so I have to temper my excitement and remember we are still real beginners at this. Still, if we keep developing and building on our strengths the team will continue to surprise a few people. We will keep our plan going under the radar of the bigger teams and see where we go. It is already nice that the other teams now take us far more seriously and I feel like the other drivers have welcomed me to the paddock.
So, Oulton Park sees the next leg of our first season and our aim is for another top 20 finish this weekend for our sponsors, Laser Tools, the team and for you my fast growing fan base. Please come along to Oulton Park, pop your head into the garage and say hello. We'd love to see you.
