In their first article for this column, Motorbase Performance announce their use of the Ford EcoBoost engine for their 2015 BTCC campaign and look forward to the start of the new season.
The Ford EcoBoost engine being used by Motorbase for the 2015 BTCC season
With the BTCC's new boost regulations coming in for 2015, guaranteeing level boost for the full season, we have spent a lot of time and effort developing a brand new engine for our Ford Focus' this season. We are used to challenging for titles in any race series we enter and the Dunlop MSA BTCC is a massive target for us with our new team line-up and new sponsors - watch this space as all the team BTCC news and exclusive content and images will be here in this column!
The new engine is a special version of the world acclaimed Ford EcoBoost that we have developed with our long term partners mountune, together with our technical partners Samco Sport, Pro Alloy and Speciality Fasteners.

Team principal David Bartrum said: "Starting with a standard Ford 2-litre EcoBoost engine, development work has been carried out during the closed season to ensure that the engine meets NGTC specifications. With the first engine built and preliminary tests now complete, the squad is preparing to embark on a significant pre-season testing programme ahead of the opening round of the 2015 BTCC season at our local Brands Hatch circuit on April 4/5. Naturally the engine now needs to be out on track in the cars so that we can see where we are and ensure and ensure it is ready to go."
David continued: "It's been a busy winter for us behind the scenes, but I'm delighted to be in a position to finally go public with this very exciting development for us. The Ford EcoBoost engine has been a long time in the planning and it's only really come together in recent months thanks to the great teamwork and input from mountune and our technical partners."
This latest project marks another new era in the highly successful heritage between the team here at Motorbase Performance, mountune and the Blue Oval that is Ford. Initial tests on the direct injection system have produced some promising results and we have time to really get it right for the start of the season.

"There's still more development to do before the start of the season." explains mountune technical director, David Mountain. "Having said that, we're confident that by the first round we'll have a strong package available, from which we can build on during the course of the season."
It's early days yet and we've obviously still got a long way to go in terms of testing and development but it's great news for Motorbase, Ford and the BTCC and we're confident that we'll be back in the thick of it once more when the flag drops in April.
We are also doing a lot of work with our new team sponsors and have several driver line-up options available at this point. Naturally we can't disclose these at this time to be fair to all parties, but we are confident that we will have a great squad announced in the not too distant future. We are already really excited to have former sports-car driver Alex Martin in one of the three Motorbase built Focus STs in 2015, and we will bring you all of the latest news from the team and testing here in our column.
