Halfords Yuasa Racing and Andy Neate part company
By MJP Media | 13 April 2016
After ending its relationship with third driver Andy Neate with immediate effect, Halfords Yuasa Racing will be a two-car squad for the remainder of the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Halfords Yuasa Racing will continue as a two-car team for the rest of the season
Series organiser TOCA has been kept abreast of developments throughout the process and has agreed to the withdrawal of the car from the remainder of the 2016 BTCC championship and has subsequently recalled the loaned TBL (TOCA BTCC Licence) associated with that entry. This situation is relatively unheard of so early in the season and we understand that neither party will comment further.
Andy Neate during pre-season testing
Halfords Yuasa Racing still holds two permanent TBLs and a massive desire to retain the championship. These permanent TBLs are required for each entry to guarantee participation however Neate's third licence was loaned to the team prior to the 2016 season and so will have no effect on Matt Neal's and Gordon Shedden's championship campaign.
Andy Neate is no longer part of the Halfords Yuasa Racing squad
This now spare TBL can be re-allocated by TOCA from the next workable event (Thruxton) to another team/entry for the rest of the season. Details of the re-allocation will be announced in due course.
