Croft Preview - WIN TICKETS!
By MJP Media | 8 June 2016
Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire provides the venue for rounds 13, 14 and 15 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on June 18th and 19th.
Sam Tordoff leads the field heading to Croft Circuit
It hardly seems any time at all since we were looking forward to the start of the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, yet the season is almost at the half way point as the teams, drivers and fans head to the Croft Circuit for the 5th meeting of the year on June 18th and 19th. Surrounded by farmland, the North Yorkshire circuit is always a firm favourite with the fans as its mixture of low, medium and high-speed sections, together with the tightest hairpin bend on the BTCC calendar, always produces exciting racing.
With 9 different drivers taking race wins in the 12 races held so far this year, the 2016 BTCC season is one of the closest in recent years. Sam Tordoff moved to the top of the Drivers' Championship standings last time out at Oulton Park and will arrive at Croft Circuit with 139 points, just 1 point ahead of Matt Neal on 138. Tordoff's Team JCT600 with GardX team-mate Rob Collard lies 3rd on 113 with Neal's Halfords Yuasa Racing team-mate and defending champion Gordon Shedden just 1 point behind on 112. Adam Morgan is only 4 points further adrift on 108, closely followed by Andrew Jordan (102), Matt Jackson (99), Jack Goff (96), Josh Cook (93) and Tom Ingram (92) completing the top ten.

Oulton Park proved to be a turning-point for Silverline Subaru BMR Racing. Following a difficult start to the season the team secured not only a maiden pole position and maiden race win for Subaru with Colin Turkington, they took 5 out of the 9 podium places available from the three races with Turkington and Jason Plato collecting the silverware. With their Levorg GTs now in race-winning form we can expect the team to be getting more podium finishes as the season progresses.
At last year's meeting the West Surrey Racing prepared BMW 125i M Sports were the cars to beat with each of their drivers taking a race win for the team. This year the competition will be tough with no fewer than 6 different makes of car (Honda, Ford, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota and Subaru) taking drivers to race wins for 6 different teams in the first 12 races of the season.

In addition to the three races from the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship there is also a full supporting programme with action from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge, Renault UK Clio Cup, MSA Formula Championship and the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship. To get tickets to this fantastic event, visit the Croft Circuit web site - there's free admission for accompanied children aged 15 and under!
